Can I test Literaxis for free?+
Yes — without an account, you can translate 1 page (~300 words) for free, once per device. With a free account (no credit card required), you get 10 pages (~3,000 words) per week — reset every Monday. That's enough to translate a full chapter and test the quality on your own text.
What is the «Narrator Voice» setting and why does it matter?+
During upload, you can specify whether your narrator is male, female or non-binary. This is only relevant for first-person books (I/me) translated into Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese — languages where adjectives and participles agree in gender. Without this information, Literaxis uses a neutral form. With it, grammatical agreement is precise from the first translation.
What do the red flags in the annotated PDF mean?+
Flags indicate passages where automatic translation reaches its limits: untranslatable wordplay, culturally specific idioms, lost rhymes or cultural references. For each flag you receive three options A/B/C — you choose what fits your book best.
What is «My variants» and what can I do with it?+
For each flagged passage in your translation, you can individually choose which option — A (literal), B (semantic) or C (creative) — goes into your final document. Open «My variants» in the dashboard, click through each passage, and export the result as Word or TXT. Ideal if none of the three fixed variants suits you entirely — you compose your own bespoke version.
Is my translation stored anywhere?+
No. Literaxis works on a Zero-Storage principle: your original text and translation are automatically deleted after download. Only anonymised metadata (word count, language, timestamp) remains for billing. Proof of deletion is included on every PDF.
Don't AI systems sometimes just make things up — the so-called hallucinations?+
This is a legitimate concern. Large language models tend to hallucinate on long texts because they lose the thread of context across pages. Literaxis solves this structurally: every translation is split into short segments processed individually. A cumulative glossary — names, technical terms, recurring expressions — is built chapter by chapter and injected into each new segment. This guarantees cross-chapter consistency and structurally eliminates the main causes of hallucination. In addition, every translation goes through an independent AI quality check (Stage 2) that actively detects omissions and serious meaning errors.

It was born in a Swiss Emmental kitchen, because two indie authors wanted to translate their own books — without spending a fortune. What started as a cost problem became a months-long major project. Developers who write books became authors who build tools for their own kind. What was planned as a translation weekend became Literaxis — today an independent company run by authors who know exactly where it hurts.
